It seems with the Run-Up to the 21.12.2012 *thing* these little gems started to become very Popular.
So much so that the State Side supplier almost ran out (production issue in Asia).

I stumbled on these and can't say enough about the quality and efficiency.
Part of the proceeds of the sales of these go to developing countries and disaster areas worldwide.
Life Straw can filter up to 1000 liters (264 G) of water and removes 99.9999% of waterborne bacteria and 99.9% of parasites.
Water that is drawn up through the straw first passes through hollow fibers that filter water particles using only physical filtration methods and no chemicals.
The entire process is powered by suction, similar to using a conventional drinking straw, and filters up to 1000 liters of water.
LifeStraw removes a minimum of 99.9% of waterborne protozoan parasites including Giardia and Cryptosporidium.
Note: Will not Desalinate Water or remove Waterborne Viruses.

time due to an unexpected delay. Our warehouse recently discovered that part of our shipment of
LifeStraws had arrived damaged.
Since we discovered the damaged units,
we've managed to fly in an emergency shipment of LifeStraws,
and that shipment is scheduled to arrive later this week,
at which point the warehouse staff will ship your order. If you are in a rush to get your LifeStraw, you can always call
