Xinhua, March 1, 2013: Two Die, One Wounded in East France Nuclear Site [...] Two workers died and another was seriously injured on Thursday after a nacelle collapsed on the nuclear site of Cattenom in the eastern French town of Moselle, local media reported. [...] Citing the prefecture, the report added that the incident did not cause a nuclear threat. [...]
Wort.lu: [...] According to the Lorraine France Bleu Nord, the accident occurred on Thursday shortly after 5pm at the central nuclear reactor building. Unit 4 had been closed to allow for a ten-year safety inspection and maintenance check. According to early witness accounts part of a platform and ladder broke off and fell four metres onto workers. [...]
Fox Business: French nuclear safety watchdog Autorite de Surete Nucleaire said Thursday two workers were killed and another badly injured at one of Electricite de France SA’s (EDF.FR) nuclear plant in the east of France. [...]
AAP: [...] The accident, which occurred around 4:35pm (0235 on Friday AEDT), saw the trio fall four metres from a cherry-picker platform in a part of the plant that was closed for maintenance, firefighters said. [...] The two dead men were aged 42 and 44. [...] The cause of the accident was not immediately clear, though it appeared something broke as the workers tried to manoeuvre the platform, local prosecutor Jean-Francois Mailhes, who has opened an investigation into the incident, said at a press conference. France’s Nuclear Safety Authority and the regional police of Metz have been charged with handling the probe.
