The number of Minnesota Xcel Energy customers without power is down to about 60,000 after weekend storms, the utility said early Monday.
Xcel crews have been working for days to restore power after severe thunderstorms swept through Minnesota and western Wisconsin from Friday to early Sunday.
More than 550,000 Xcel Energy customers were affected at the peak of outages. By 7 a.m. Monday the number was down to just above 59,000.

About 58,000 of those were in the Twin Cities -- 48,000 in the west metro and about 10,000 in the east.
Minneapolis and western suburbs were hit the hardest, though Roseville, Maplewood and pockets farther east also saw significant outages.
The utility expects to restore power to the vast majority of its customers by Wednesday, it says.
Top priority for service restoration goes to situations that threaten public safety, such as downed wires, the company said. The next priority includes hospitals and nursing homes, followed by densely populated areas. See more photos
