FEMA Operational Briefing (April 8, 2013)
Today’s briefing had information on the Avian Flu cluster in China. The most important impact here is that there is recorded evidence of human to human transmission of the bird flu. Currently there is 21 cases in China, however this cluster is a concern to everyone as the confirmed fact of human to human transmission. Flu is coming at us again and now we must educate and prepare our families for the possible deadly consequences of the bird flu. We have had cases as close as Mexico, so we must prepare now.
North Dakota is beginning to experience major flooding due to the amount of rainfall and the spring melting of the snow. This will flow into the Mississippi River and begin to cause flooding throughout the Midwest. With the added storm clusters heading into the region, flooding and flash flooding can become a problem fast.
A wise man prepares for the darkness, while a fool plays. Don’t get caught playing.
