Conakry / Brussels / Geneva, 31 March 2014 – With eight confirmed cases of Ebola reported in the capital Conakry, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is facing an unprecedented epidemic in terms of the distribution of cases now scattered in several locations in Guinea.

“We are facing an epidemic of a magnitude never before seen in terms of the distribution of cases in the country: Gueckedou, Macenta Kissidougou, Nzerekore, and now Conakry,” said Mariano Lugli, coordinator of MSF's project in Conakry. - MSF

The Ebola outbreak that has killed 78 people in Guinea is "unprecedented", a medical charity has said.

An official with Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF) said the spread of the disease across the country made it very difficult to control.
The West African state is facing a battle to contain the outbreak after cases were reported in areas that are hundreds of kilometres apart.
Ebola is spread by close contact and kills between 25% and 90% of victims.

February 19, 2014 — (TRN) — Some worrying developments are taking place at the Super Volcano located beneath Yellowstone National Park; the kind of developments that were seen shortly before other volcanoes erupted.  Not only was there a sudden rise in the elevation of the ground, and development of new cracks, but a gas called Helium-4, a very rare type of Helium, has begun coming out of the surface.  It is the presence of this gas that has scientists quite concerned.  If the Yellowstone Super Volcano were to erupt, it would be 2,000 times bigger than the eruption of Mount St. Helens in the 1980′s.  Everything within 500 miles would be dead or destroyed within minutes, 2/3rds of the entire United States would be covered in volcanic ash and the climate of the entire planet would cool within a month.  On top of that, just this past week, the largest earthquake in the US took place just a few miles from Yellowstone proving hot magma is on the move.  Here’s what has scientists concerned:
Since late summer 2013, the Yellowstone GPS network has tracked a small ” ground deformation episode” in north-central Yellowstone National Park.
During the past five months, the NRWY GPS station has recorded about 3.5 cm (1.4 in) of uplift (the ground is rising) and about 1 cm (0.4 in) of southeastward ground movement, relative to a stable reference station north of the Park.
Measurements from other GPS stations in northern Yellowstone show smaller displacements, forming a circular pattern of deformation (circular — as in the round mouth of a volcano) consistent with a minor pressurization (building-up underground), about 6 to 10 km (4-6 miles) deep, near Norris Junction.
What has scientists very concerned is that Yellowstone has suddenly begun emitting massive amounts of Helium-4.  Helium-4 seems to be the predictor of activity, as proved with other volcanos.
For instance, as the volcanic island of El Hierro, the smallest of Spain’s Canary Islands, rumbled and groaned over the course of seven months in 2011 and 2012, gases silently percolated up through the island’s soil and groundwater.

Over the past week, several reports have been coming in from viewers, telling me to check the charts in Yellowstone.   People saying the charts are showing UNREPORTED activity on multiple stations across the famous Supervolcano (national park).
Indeed, activity was occurring this past week, but NOT being counted on the USGS public feeds as earthquakes.
Earthquakes at Yellowstone not being reported?  What is this madness?
After checking the actual charts, indeed it is confirmed, there has been earthquake movement GREATER than 2.5M across the area, the charts do not lie……
Here are a couple examples of the activity NOT showing on public feeds as “earthquakes”.. yet clearly some actual movement is occurring : (censored?)

Move forward a few days, now currently March 25, 2014 — after the flurry of UNREPORTED activity — and now the USGS is showing THREE 3.0M+ events over the past 24 hours.

The magma chamber for the supervolcano has been found to extend further West than originally thought.  Confirmed now via subterranean “soundings” taken via ground penetrating RADAR, the chamber extends as far West as the Oregon State Line.

Compare the “reported” 3.0M+ events shown on the charts below, to the charts over the past few days, shown above.
The charts above show similar sized activity.  However no earthquakes were reported at Yellowstone corresponding to the charts above.
This means censorship is occurring at some point.   The earthquakes on the charts earlier this week, were not reported as earthquakes to the public.
Move forward 2-3 days… March 24, 2014 .. THREE earthquakes, greater than 3.0M, now showing on the Yellowstone charts, and also being publicly admitted on the USGS feeds.

[Department of Energy officials said in a news release Tuesday afternoon that new air sampling data showed a "very small" radiation release on March 11.

Samples collected from the ventilation exhaust recorded 61 disintegrations per minute of americium. DPM measures the amount of radioactive contamination from alpha and beta rays in an area.

Operations at the nuclear waste dump site 26 miles east of Carlsbad were suspended in February after a underground truck fire and radiation leak were reported in separate incidents that occurred 9 days apart.

The DOE believes the most recent contamination was residual radioactive particles that were trapped in the ventilation system from the initial radiation leak. Samples collected before and after that date indicate the radiation at background levels, the department said.] 

Meanwhile in another Press Release DOE claims that RAD Spikes are normal and not related to WIPP Incident:

[Six of the seven department’s air monitoring stations including the one inside Carlsbad city limits had higher radiation levels in March than in Feb. when the leak happened.

Still, officials say there’s no public health threat.

“They’re at no consequence level,” said Nuclear Waste Partnership Communications Manager Donavan.

According to the DOE, the radiation detected inside city limits is not related to the WIPP leak.

“This is normal activity you would see even if WIPP had not been here,” said Carlsbad Environmental Monitoring and Research Center Director Russell Hardy. “If WIPP were three states away you would see this.”] - KRQE

CARLSBAD -- An additional release of radiation occurred at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant on March 11, nearly a month after the first radiation leak was reported.

Department of Energy officials said in a news release Tuesday afternoon that new air sampling data showed a "very small" radiation release on March 11.

Samples collected from the ventilation exhaust recorded 61 disintegrations per minute of americium. DPM measures the amount of radioactive contamination from alpha and beta rays in an area.

Operations at the nuclear waste dump site 26 miles east of Carlsbad were suspended in February after a underground truck fire and radiation leak were reported in separate incidents that occurred 9 days apart.

The DOE believes the most recent contamination was residual radioactive particles that were trapped in the ventilation system from the initial radiation leak. Samples collected before and after that date indicate the radiation at background levels, the department said.

The DOE said it anticipates additional low-level releases on occasion, but officials expect radiation in the environment will remain at safe levels. New Mexico Environment Department Secretary Ryan Flynn said the state was briefed of the news Tuesday morning and thinks there is nothing to worry about at this time.

"The level they detected is low and we don't believe there was any risk to public health or the environment but we need to investigate more," he said. New air data will be posted on Thursday of each week as it becomes available at wipp.energy.gov, according to the news release. Department of Energy officials were not available for comment.

WIPP opened in 1999 and disposes transuranic waste, commonly referred to as "TRU," into the Permian-age salt bedrock 2,150 feet below ground. Most of the waste WIPP receives is primarily low-level, solid materials such as discarded tools and cloths used in the manufacturing of Cold War-era nuclear weapons.

 CARLSBAD >> Ineffective maintenance and poor safety procedures by the Nuclear Waste Partnership and previous contractor Washington TRU Solutions is to blame for last month's underground fire at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant, 26 miles east of Carlsbad, according to Department of Energy investigators.
A salt hauling vehicle was set ablaze on the morning of Feb. 5, causing evacuations of all 86 workers who were underground at the time. Six employees were treated for smoke inhalation at Carlsbad Medical Center and an additional seven were treated on-site.

The fire originated in the truck's engine compartment when either hydraulic fuel or diesel fuel made contact with the catalytic converter, according to an accident investigation report released Friday morning by the DOE. (CNN) -- In the early 1960s, a young postdoctoral student stumbled onto something that puzzled him.

After reading the literature on cannabis, he was surprised to see that while the active compound in morphine had been isolated from opium poppies 100 years before and cocaine isolated from coca leaves around the same time, the active component of marijuana was still unknown.

This simple observation launched his life's work.

That young Israeli researcher, Raphael Mechoulam, is now a heavily decorated scientist, recently nominated for the prestigious Rothschild Prize. More than 50 years ago, however, he had trouble starting his scientific journey.

Dr. Sanjay Gupta is a practicing neurosurgeon and CNN's chief medical correspondent.

By 2017 Elon Musk has promised that Tesla Motors will roll out an electric sedan with a 200-mile range and a price of around $35,000. Designed to compete with the BMW 3-series and Mercedes C-Class, a recent trademark application for the name “Model E” may indicate the name of this new, mass-market sedan. - Gas2.org

Elon Musk says mass market Tesla car (Model E) will have a ~48kWh battery, be 80% the size of the Model S

There is a lot of interesting info from a talk that Elon Musk gave at the CPUC last week. Of particular note, Musk gave some spec estimates for the mass market “Model E” vehicle expected to be released in 2017 with batteries coming from the Gigafactory. In the video above he says the car will have a 200 mile range and be 20% smaller than the Model S. Therefore the battery will need to have about 80% of the energy of the current Model S (Musk’s words). To be clear, since Tesla uses the constant sized 18650 cells (and looks to continue to do so) physical size and Watt-hours are fairly constant.
So given that a 60kWh Model S has a range of around 200 miles (EPA 208), that means that the Model E would need to have a battery around 80% the size of the Model S or 48kWh.
That’s still about double what leading ‘mass market’ electric cars have today. The Chevy Spark EV, with a range of 82 miles has a 21.3 kWh battery. The Nissan LEAF which has a 75 mile EPA range rating has a 24 kWh battery. The Chevy Volt has a 16kWh battery while the BMW i3 is 18.8.
